Every week I lead the all-sales team meeting. I should probably relinquish control of that to the sales managers. But running bang-up sales meetings is kinda my shtick.
How I kicked off this week’s sales meeting (and template for all of them):
Closing Song: Every AE on our team has their own personal closing song. I have a CRM report that shows “largest % of quota achieved last week” so that I can control for ramping reps and different quota sizes. I want to see who put up the most of their number in the last sales week. Whenever we start a meeting, I have this person’s closing song playing in the background as the reps join the call, with a note up that says:
“Name’s closing song: Song by Artist. XX% and $XX closed last week!!”
To do: Poll everyone for their Closing Song and write it down.
Funny video: Whenever possible, I try to kick off with a few minutes of trending pop culture to lighten the mood. Bonus points if it’s thought-provoking. This fan-made AI-generated commercial for Liquid Death is exactly that—and a great reminder that it’s probably not a good time to begin a career as a commercial actor.
The video: Is it the cult thing?
Impactful discussion content: Marc Andreessen, venture capitalist and co-founder of Andreessen Horowitz, recently dropped his 2025 Career Advice. Read through that as a team and go into breakout rooms to talk about what was most impactful for you.
Cheers to keeping it real this week.
